These chicks are flown direct to Homer so they arrive at our store between 24 and 36 hours after hatch, compared with the 60-72 hours through the post office.  This gives them a much higher survival rate.

The Sussex is an old English breed originating in Sussex county. They are a curious, but gentle bird. Their speckled coloring helps camouflage them from predators and they get more speckles after each molt. With the hen laying large brown eggs, and the rooster averaging 9 lbs., the Sussex makes a good choice for a dual purpose chicken.
