An early season stunner, 'Once Upon a Dream' will delight the spring garden with tall flower scapes of carmine pink flowers. Dark red stems carry interest down to the canopy of deep green leaves. Foliage contains a mixture of bronze and burgundy highlights. While this plant is capable of growing from full sun to shade, it will thrive when given additional moisture in full sun and afternoon shade in the south.

Bergenia can be used in a variety of ways in the landscape. It is most impressive when used as a durable, evergreen groundcover, but it can also be used in containers and rock gardens. It is quite effective at softening the hard edges of pavement and also works well as an edging or filler plant in flower borders.
