Introduced to the U.S. from Australia in the early 1900s, the Australorp has been available at Dunlap Hatchery since we began business. It is a very hearty dual-purpose breed that lays a medium to large brown egg. With their gentle temperament and beautiful iridescent black coloring they are a very popular breed for the backyard. Chicks are mostly black with a white coloring on their underbelly.
