Sold as 1-5 day old chicks

It is unknown when this bantam breed first appeared, but first written documentation was in 13th century China. Named after their “silk” like feathers the Silkie is one of America’s most popular backyard chickens. They are one of the most docile breeds known and make excellent broody mothers. They have many unique characteristics including black skin and bones, blue earlobes, walnut combs, as well as five toes. They are cold hardy, but prone to overheating in the hot months of summer. Most of our silkies are bearded, but it is a recessive gene that they may not be. Overall, the Silkie adds a distinct look to any flock. Chicks are a pale blue to light blue, sometimes almost white. They also have feathered legs and a tuft on the head.
